Why look for a Healthie alternative?

Healthie earns its place as an EHR-style platform: telehealth, scheduling, billing and charting are all core features, and its Edamam-based nutrient tracking is genuinely native. Practitioners who look elsewhere are usually reacting to how nutrition itself is built, not the rest of the platform.

  • Meal planning is not native. Healthie's help centre says it only offers meal plans through a Living Plate Rx integration, and that requires the Plus plan ($129/month) or above plus its own active Living Plate Rx membership.
  • The entry plan is thin. Core, at $19/month for 10 active clients, does not include group telehealth or online programs; those arrive on Plus, two tiers up.
  • It is built around clinical workflows. Charting, claims forms and paid add-ons for insurance claims and e-prescribing sit at the centre of Healthie's pitch, which a coach without a clinical practice may never use.

None of that makes Healthie a poor choice for a licensed practitioner who wants telehealth and billing in one system. It means someone whose job is meal plans, food logging or training coaching may find a narrower or differently-built tool a closer fit.

Practice Better: the closer EHR comparison, the same integration gap

Cheapest plan
Free (Sprout, 3 clients)
Cheapest paid plan
$35/mo (Starter, 10 clients)
Meal plans
Via That Clean Life integration
Client app
Yes

Practice Better is Healthie's nearest direct comparison: also an all-in-one practice management platform for health and wellness professionals, with a permanently free Sprout tier for up to 3 clients that Healthie does not offer (more in our Practice Better alternatives guide). Its own "Journaling" feature covers nutrient tracking natively.

Meal planning is not native here either: it runs through a That Clean Life integration, which Practice Better itself acquired but still sells as a separate subscription starting at $30/month. Telehealth, scheduling and payments are listed as core features.

Cons
  • Meal planning still needs a second, separate subscription
  • Unlimited clients need Plus at $99/month
  • Zapier integration is Professional plan and up only
Pros
  • A genuinely free Sprout tier for 3 clients, which Healthie does not offer
  • 14 day trial on paid plans, 30 days on Team
  • Payment plans and account deposits built in from Professional

That Clean Life: meal plans built in, no EHR overhead

Cheapest plan
$30/mo (Starter)
Clients included
10 client shares
Meal plans
Yes, native
Client app
No (web link or PDF)

That Clean Life, also owned by Practice Better but sold stand-alone, is a dedicated meal-plan builder rather than a practice-management platform. It draws on a library of 8,000-plus recipes, and on Plus, automation can generate a plan from calories, macros and diet type with over 100 recipe filters.

It skips everything Healthie is built around: no telehealth, no billing, and no client-facing food-logging or macro-tracking app. Best for a nutrition professional who only needs to build and share plans quickly, not run a full practice inside the tool.

Cons
  • No client-facing food logging or macro-tracking app
  • No telehealth or payments feature
  • No free trial, and Starter is monthly billing only
Pros
  • Meal plans and an 8,000-plus recipe library, native, no integration needed
  • Plus removes the client-share limit for $60/month
  • On Plus, automation can build a plan straight from calories, macros and diet type

Nutrium: meal plans, macros and telehealth in one plan

Cheapest plan
$25/mo (10 clients, first-year promo)
Clients included
10 per month, or unlimited at $39/mo (promo)
Meal plans
Yes, native
Client app
Yes

Nutrium keeps meal plans, macro and micronutrient analysis, client food logging and native video consultations in the same subscription, with no separate integration to add the way Healthie needs. Payments run on Stripe and are included in every plan, though per-transaction fees still apply.

The lowest published prices are first-year promotions only; the page states regular rates of roughly double once that period ends ($49/month and $79/month). Confirm current pricing directly before moving a client roster over.

Cons
  • Entry prices are first-year promotions; regular rates run close to double
  • The pricing page defaults to yearly billing, so check which figure you are reading
  • Clinical charting or insurance-billing depth is not confirmed on its pages
Pros
  • Meal plans, macros and telehealth in one plan, no paid integration required
  • 14 day trial on every plan
  • Stripe payments included in every plan, not a separate add-on

Evolution Nutrition: RD-built meal plans, not a blank builder

Cheapest plan
from $59/mo (Pro, 50 to 500 clients)
Clients included
50 to 500 (Pro); 1,000+ (Enterprise, from $199/mo)
Meal plans
Yes, native + pre-built library
Client app
Yes (self-service portal)

Evolution Nutrition is not close to an EHR: it is a library of over 4,400 meal plans across 22 diet types, written by the company's own Registered Dietitians, that a trainer edits and hands to clients rather than always starting from a blank page. Building a plan from scratch is still possible.

Telehealth, clinical charting, macro tracking and payments are not mentioned on its own pages, so treat them as unconfirmed rather than included. Best for a trainer who wants a ready-made meal-plan library, not a Healthie-style practice system.

Cons
  • No telehealth, charting or billing features confirmed on its pages
  • No macro tracking or client food logging confirmed on its pages
  • No free trial stated
Pros
  • 4,400-plus RD-built meal plans across 22 diet types included
  • Full editing tools if you want to customise a plan rather than build one
  • A self-service client portal for meal-plan access

MealLogger: photo food logging, nothing else

Cheapest plan
Not published
Clients included
Not published
Meal plans
Not stated
Client app
Yes

MealLogger Pro is a photo-based food journal: clients photograph what they eat, get AI-analysed nutrition and macro information, and share it with a coach for feedback. It ships in Solo, Research, Business and Enterprise editions, priced only after contacting the company directly.

No meal-plan builder or telehealth is described on its official pages, so it is not a like-for-like Healthie replacement. Best paired with whatever you already use for programming or practice management, as a lightweight logging layer on top.

Cons
  • No public pricing; a quote requires contacting the company directly
  • No meal-plan builder, telehealth or billing confirmed
  • Not a full Healthie replacement on its own
Pros
  • AI-analysed nutrition and macro data straight from a food photo
  • Client app for iOS and Android
  • Built specifically for ongoing food-logging feedback, not a one-off form

Scraler: nutrition sits next to training, not a clinical EHR

Cheapest plan
$49/mo (Plus)
Clients included
50 active
Meal plans
Yes, native + recipes/cookbooks
Client app
iOS and Android

Scraler is coaching software for personal trainers, coaches and studios, not a clinical EHR. On Plus at $49/month, a native meal plan builder, macro tracking, food logging, a recipe and cookbook library and check-ins are all included, sitting next to the workout builder rather than replacing a practice-management system.

Payments run through Stripe from Premium rather than every plan, and the trial needs a card on file though nothing is charged until it ends. There is no telehealth, clinical charting or insurance billing, since Scraler is built for training and coaching, not a licensed clinical practice. Coaches who also program workouts can compare that wider category in the online coaching platforms guide and the best apps for personal trainers roundup.

Cons
  • No telehealth, charting or insurance billing; not built for a clinical practice
  • Payments are a Premium feature ($69/month), not included at Plus
  • Newer and smaller than the established names on this page
Pros
  • Meal plans, macros, food logging, recipes and check-ins on the entry plan
  • Archived clients do not count against the client cap
  • Training and nutrition on the same client profile, no second subscription

How do you migrate off Healthie?

Export client contacts, meal plans and any notes you have built first, since none of the tools here import a Healthie account automatically. A licensed practitioner moving between EHR-style platforms should also confirm what happens to chart and billing history directly with Healthie support before cancelling.

If you are a trainer or coach moving to Scraler specifically, the switch page is a free service that rebuilds clients, workouts and meal plans from an export. For the wider picture on nutrition software, the nutrition coaching software guide compares meal planning, food logging and clinical tools side by side.

Coach nutrition and training from one app

Meal plans, macro targets, food logging, recipes and check-ins live on the same client profile as programming. Fourteen days free, card on file, nothing charged unless you stay past the trial.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Healthie?
It depends on what you actually need. Practice Better is the closest direct comparison with a free tier Healthie lacks. That Clean Life and Nutrium build meal plans natively without a second integration. Evolution Nutrition hands you a pre-built plan library, and Scraler suits a coach who wants nutrition next to training.
Is there a free alternative to Healthie?
Practice Better's Sprout tier is free permanently for up to 3 clients. Healthie has no free plan, only a 14 day free trial with no card required. None of the other alternatives here publish a free plan.
Which of these alternatives build meal plans natively, unlike Healthie?
That Clean Life, Nutrium, Evolution Nutrition and Scraler all build meal plans natively. Practice Better has the same gap as Healthie: meal planning runs through a separate That Clean Life subscription.
Do any of these alternatives include telehealth like Healthie?
Practice Better and Nutrium both include telehealth and video consultations. That Clean Life and Scraler do not offer telehealth, and Evolution Nutrition and MealLogger do not mention it on their pages.
Can a personal trainer use Healthie instead of dietitian-specific software?
Healthie is built for licensed practitioners with telehealth, charting and claims tools as core features, which is overhead most trainers coaching general nutrition habits do not need. A combined platform like Scraler, or a meal-plan tool like That Clean Life, is a closer fit for that scope of practice.
What happens to my clients and records if I leave Healthie?
None of the alternatives here import a Healthie account automatically. Export client contacts and meal plans first, and confirm chart or billing history directly with Healthie support. Scraler's free switch page covers training-focused migrations, rebuilding clients, workouts and meal plans from an export.
