ABC Trainerize: What Changed and Who Should Switch
ABC Trainerize is Trainerize after ABC Fitness, the gym software company, bought it in September 2020. It is the same coaching app with four plans: a free Basic, Grow, Pro and Studio Plus. Pro is priced by client seats, from $25 a month for 5 clients to $250 for 200.

- ABC Fitness acquired Trainerize in September 2020 and the product is now sold as ABC Trainerize.
- Pro costs $79 a month at 30 clients and $135 at 50. Payments ($10), the meal planner ($45 at 30 clients and up) and a branded app ($169 once) are extras.
- Stay if you run a gym that uses ABC Glofox or Mindbody, or a roster above 200 clients.
- Consider switching if you are an independent coach with 30 to 100 clients who wants payments, nutrition and your own app without stacking add-ons.
- Cancelling drops you to the free plan and deactivates clients above its limit, so plan the move before you cancel.
Most people searching "abc trainerize" already use the app and have noticed the new name. This guide covers what ABC bought, what the plans cost today, and which coaches should stay or move. Every price comes from Trainerize's own pages, read on 7 October 2026. For the full price breakdown see our Trainerize pricing guide, and for a wider comparison see Trainerize alternatives.
What is ABC Trainerize?
ABC Trainerize is a personal training app and web platform. Coaches build workout programs, set nutrition targets and habits, message clients and track progress in one place, and clients use a mobile app. Trainerize describes the product as built for one to one and small group coaching, as opposed to gym software for front desk and class scheduling. If you are weighing it against other tools, our guide to personal trainer software covers what any coaching platform should do.
The "ABC" is the owner. ABC Fitness Solutions is a large club and studio software company. Trainerize says its parent serves about 30,000 clubs and studios and over 40 million members. Trainerize itself connects to ABC Glofox for class booking and memberships, and to Mindbody, MyFitnessPal and wearables.
What changed since ABC bought Trainerize?
The deal was announced on 15 September 2020. In the press release, ABC Financial said it had acquired Trainerize and would sell it as "Trainerize powered by ABC". Trainerize's CEO, Sharad Mohan, joined ABC Financial as managing director and the whole Trainerize staff joined ABC.
What you see today is a product that has grown with that parent. The name is ABC Trainerize. The site lists an AI Workout Builder from the Grow plan, an AI add-on called FitMetrics for check-ins and compliance, and a library of more than 2,100 filmed exercises. It also has a clear gym and studio side, with an integration to ABC Glofox.
How much does ABC Trainerize cost today?
There are four plans. Basic is free for one coaching client. Grow is $10 a month for two. Pro is the plan most independent coaches use, and you pick a number of client seats. Studio Plus starts at $275 a month for 500 clients. Annual billing saves 10%, and all prices are in USD.

Clients who only book sessions or buy products count as "Basic clients" and do not use a seat. Coaching clients, who get programs, tracking and messaging, do. Clients never pay to use the app.

What does an independent coach really pay?
Add the extras a coaching business usually needs and the headline price moves. Here is a worked example for a coach with 30 and with 50 clients who wants Stripe payments and the meal planner, using the list prices above and monthly billing:
- 30 clients: Pro $79 + Stripe $10 + Advanced Nutrition $45 = $134 a month.
- 50 clients: Pro $135 + Stripe $10 + Advanced Nutrition $45 = $190 a month.
- Branded app on top: $169 one time on Pro, plus an Apple Developer account at $99 a year if you ever want your own listing.
None of that is hidden. It is on the pricing page. But it does mean the plan price you compare is rarely the bill you pay.
Does ABC Trainerize have a branded app?
Yes, in three tiers. The Pro app, a $169 one-time fee, adds your icon, a themed navigation bar and a welcome video. On iOS your clients still find it inside the shared ABC Trainerize listing, while Android gets your own Google Play listing. The Studio app is included with Studio plans and has your own listings on both stores. An Enterprise tier adds deeper customization.
If a store listing under your own name matters to you, the practical route is Studio Plus at $275 a month and a 500-client tier. Our guide to white label fitness apps explains what each level means for your clients.
Should you stay on ABC Trainerize or switch?
- You run a gym or studio that already uses ABC Glofox or Mindbody
- Your roster is above 200 clients and you want Studio Plus
- You like its AI Workout Builder and 2,100+ exercise videos
- You coach one client and the free Basic plan is enough
- You are an independent coach with 30 to 100 clients
- You need payments and a meal planner without add-ons
- You want your own app listing without a 500-client plan
- Seat tiers make your bill jump each time you grow
Here is how the two compare for a coach at 50 clients who needs payments and nutrition. This is a worked example from each vendor's own pricing page, not a claim about every feature. Scraler Premium is $69 a month and includes payments, a meal plan builder, check-ins and AI generation. Scraler Ultimate, from $109, adds a white-label app and a custom domain.
Workouts, meal plans, check-ins, chat and payments in one app, with a white-label app on Ultimate. 14 days free.

Is ABC Trainerize good for independent personal trainers?
It is a mature, widely used app, and for many coaches it is a fair choice. Trainerize says it connects more than 400,000 trainers and coaches with 1.6 million clients, and its free plan lets you test the client experience with one person at no cost. The 30 day trial is also longer than the 14 days several rivals offer.
The friction for independent coaches is structural, not about quality. Seat tiers mean the price steps up at 15, 30, 50 and 75 clients. Payments, nutrition and video are priced separately. And the branded app that looks like yours on both stores sits on the plan built for 500 clients. If those three points do not apply to you, there is little reason to move.
- Before you switch, list what you use. Programs, meal plans, habits, forms, payment plans and any gym integration.
- Price your real stack. Add payments, nutrition and an app to the base plan on both sides, as in the example above.
- Test with five real clients, not a demo account, for two weeks.
How do you switch from ABC Trainerize without losing clients?
The order matters because of what Trainerize does when you cancel. Per its pricing page, you move to the free plan, every client above its one-client limit is deactivated, active recurring Payments products are cancelled and will not renew, and a custom branded app is deactivated. So do not cancel first.
- 1Open the new account and start the trial
Rebuild your core templates before you touch your live clients.
- 2Move your payment plans
Recreate subscriptions and packs on the new side so no one is billed twice or missed.
- 3Invite clients in groups
Start with a handful, check their first week, then move the rest.
- 4Run both for a short overlap
Keep Trainerize live until every client has logged in on the new app.
- 5Cancel last
Cancel only when nothing active depends on the old account.
For a coach who tried it, the story is usually about admin time. Rob Welch moved from Trainerize when his trial ended, and his customer story says the quick workout builder replaced it and his admin week shrank. That is one coach's experience, not a benchmark, so test a week of your own programming before you decide.
