Kahunas Review and Trainerize vs Kahunas: Which Is Better in 2026?

We read both pricing pages on 7 October 2026, plus the public app ratings and written reviews on the Apple feed. Trainerize shows its client steps through a selector, so we clicked through every one on the monthly toggle. We build a competing product, so any total we add up ourselves is labelled a worked example.

How much do Trainerize and Kahunas cost at 5, 50 and 100 clients?

The two price in different ways. Kahunas has three flat plans with a client cap on the first two. Trainerize prices Pro by client step, so the number moves each time your roster crosses a boundary. Trainerize also has Grow at $10 a month for 2 clients, and Studio Plus from $275 a month for 500 client seats. Annual billing takes 10% off Trainerize, so Pro 100 shows $203 a month. Kahunas annual is $315, $621 and $900 a year, which is $75 a month at Ultimate. What does each one charge extra for?

The plan price is only part of the bill on Trainerize. Its add-ons are Advanced Nutrition Coaching at $20 a month ($45 on Pro 30 and above), Stripe Integrated Payments at $10, Video Coaching at $10 and a Business add-on at $25 covering scheduling, referrals, payments and on-demand content. Kahunas lists no add-on prices for payments or nutrition, because Stripe and PayPal and nutrition plans are part of every plan.

Here is a worked example. A coach with 50 clients who wants the smart meal planner and Stripe on Trainerize pays $135 for Pro 50, $45 for Advanced Nutrition and $10 for payments: $190 a month. Kahunas Growth is $69. The two are not identical products, since Trainerize's smart planner has 2,400+ recipes and 7 day meal plan generation, so decide whether you need that before treating the gap as pure saving.

Is Kahunas any good? A Kahunas review from the ratings

The public ratings are the weak spot. The Kahunas app is rated 3.28 from 75 ratings on the App Store and 3.10 from 251 on Google Play. Trainerize's client app is rated 4.90 from 68,429 ratings on the App Store and 4.77 from 13,244 on Google Play. Trainerize's app is shared by every coach on the platform, so treat the gap as a signal and not a score.

We also tallied the 31 written Kahunas reviews on the US Apple feed, from May 2023 to June 2026: 7 five star, 3 four star, 5 three star, 5 two star and 11 one star. Most of the low ratings are about bugs. One client wrote that “it crashes and requires a redownload DAILY”. Others mention food logging gaps and slow support. The praise is about flexibility. One coach wrote that they were used to Trainerize and disliked how long programming took by comparison, but that Kahunas is “actually pretty flippin great”.

Trainerize has its own complaints. In the latest 500 written reviews on its client app, 252 are five star and 100 are one star, from March 2024 to October 2026. A common thread is Apple Watch: one reviewer says it “randomly stops the workout on my watch mid-workout”. Keep in mind that app reviews come mostly from clients, not from the coaches who pay. G2, Capterra and Trustpilot were not readable from our tools, so none of their scores are used here.

How do the features compare?

Workout building is close. Both let you build programs and assign them, and Trainerize leans on its AI builder. Kahunas leans on supersets, circuits, a rest timer and the option to upload your own exercises. Nutrition is where the plan structure shows: Kahunas puts its food database and plans in every tier, while Trainerize tracks meals on Grow and Pro and sells its planner separately.

Which one gives you your own branded app?

Both offer one, at very different prices. Kahunas Ultimate at $99 a month includes your own iOS and Android apps and your own store listings, and says 99% of apps go live within 30 days. You need an Apple developer account, which Kahunas lists at $99 a year.

Trainerize has two levels. The Pro branded app is a $169 one time setup fee that adds your logo and colours to the Trainerize app. A fully white-labelled app with a separate store listing is part of Studio, which starts at $275 a month for 500 client seats. Where does Scraler fit?

Scraler is one client app for workouts, nutrition, check-ins, habits and chat. Plus is $49 a month for 50 clients, Premium is $69 for 100 clients and adds AI program and meal generation, Stripe payments and community, and Ultimate starts at $109 with a branded app, custom domain and automations. A card is needed to open the 14 day trial. We are newer than both of the platforms above, so weigh that against what is bundled.

Trainerize or Kahunas: which should you choose?

Choose Trainerize if you are at the start, with 1 to 5 clients, since it is free for 1 and $25 for 5, and its trial needs no card. Choose it also if a mature app with a large rating base matters to you more than price. Choose Kahunas if you expect to pass 5 clients, because it is cheaper at every step from there, and if payments, nutrition plans and your own app listing should come in one price.
