Best Apps for Nutritionists and Nutrition Coaches in 2026
The best apps for nutritionists depend on the job. Practice Better, Healthie and Nutrium suit clinical practice. That Clean Life and NutriAdmin suit meal planning. MyFitnessPal and Cronometer are what clients log in. Scraler suits coaches who also train. Entry plans cost $10.99 to $49 a month.

- Three jobs, three kinds of app: practice management (Practice Better, Healthie, Nutrium), meal planning (That Clean Life, NutriAdmin) and client food logging (MyFitnessPal, Cronometer).
- Entry plans run from $10.99 to $49 a month, but most of the practice apps cap you at 10 clients on the cheapest plan.
- Only some apps list a meal plan builder, a recipe library, a client food diary and online payments together. See the matrix below.
- If you are a nutrition coach who also trains clients, one app for meal plans, macros, check-ins and workouts beats stitching three together.
Most lists of nutrition apps mix up three different products. Some are for the client to log food on their phone. Some are for you, to plan meals and keep records. Some do both. This guide sorts them by the job you need done, with prices read from each vendor's own pricing page on 7 October 2026. If you are new to the field, see how to become a nutrition coach.
It looks at apps a nutritionist uses with clients, day to day. For a wider look at coaching platforms, see our guide to nutrition coaching software. If you are a licensed dietitian, check your own scope of practice and record-keeping rules before you pick a tool. If you also train clients, start with our guide to personal trainer software.
What are the best apps for nutritionists?
There is no single best app, because "nutritionist" covers very different businesses. A registered dietitian who bills insurance needs charting and claims. A nutrition coach selling a monthly programme needs meal plans, a food diary and a way to take payment. A client who only wants to count protein needs a logging app.
Ask three questions first. Do you need clinical records and telehealth, or just coaching? Do you plan meals for clients, or review what they log? Do you also coach training? The answers narrow eight apps to two or three.
How much do nutritionist apps cost?
Entry plans cost $10.99 to $49 a month when billed monthly. The chart shows the cheapest paid plan of each app. It is not a like for like comparison: the practice apps cap the cheapest plan at 10 clients, while the two client apps are for one person.

Two cautions. Nutrium says its prices are valid for the first annual subscription or up to 12 consecutive monthly subscriptions, and shows struck-through prices of $79 and $49. And the cheap plans get tight fast: with a cap of 10 clients you will move up a tier within a few months of real growth.
Which apps do nutritionists use to run a practice?
Practice Better
Practice Better is the most complete practice tool of the group. Plans run $35 (10 clients), $69 (300 clients), $99 (unlimited clients) and $155 for teams. They list scheduling, telehealth, billing and payments, secure messaging, a client portal and daily food and lifestyle journals. Meal planning comes through the That Clean Life integration. A free Sprout plan exists for students and new practitioners.
Healthie
Healthie is built around charting and insurance billing. Monthly plans run $19.99 (10 active clients), $49.99 (250 clients), $129.99 (unlimited) and $149.99 for groups. Core already includes scheduling, payment processing, charting, telehealth, a client portal and a mobile app. Clients can make journal entries and connect wearables. We did not find a meal plan builder or recipe library listed.
Nutrium
Nutrium sits between a practice tool and a meal planner. It lists meal planning with pre-built templates, a recipe library, a client food diary, direct chat, appointments, and payments and invoicing. It costs $39 a month for unlimited clients, or $25 a month for up to 10 customers a month. Yearly billing is lower, at $25 and $15 a month.
Which apps build meal plans for clients?
That Clean Life
That Clean Life does one thing: nutrition plans. It lists 8,000 recipes, 150+ templates and a generator that builds a plan from calories, macros and diet type. You send the plan through a secure link or a branded PDF. Starter is $30 a month with 10 shares, Plus is $60 with unlimited shares. It does not charge per client, and there is no free trial.
NutriAdmin
NutriAdmin prices by how many new clients you take each month: $34.99 for 10, $49.99 for 20 and $74.99 for 40, billed monthly. It lists meal plans built from 100,000+ foods, recipe management, a client portal where clients fill in food diaries, and Stripe payments with fees. A 14 day trial is included.
Which apps do clients use to log food?
Many clients already use a consumer app, and you can work with that (see MyFitnessPal alternatives for coaches if you want more options). MyFitnessPal Premium costs $19.99 a month or $79.99 a year and adds custom macro tracking, barcode scanning and voice logging. Cronometer Gold costs $10.99 a month, tracks up to 95 nutrients and sets custom macro and micronutrient targets. Both have a free tier.
The catch is that the client pays, and you sit outside the app. You ask for screenshots or exports, and your plan lives somewhere else. That works for a few clients and gets tedious at 30. Practice Better lists a Cronometer integration to close that gap.

Where does Scraler fit?
Scraler is built for coaches, not for clinics. There is no insurance billing or telehealth. What you get is the coaching side in one client app: the meal planner with a recipe library and cookbooks, macro management with food logging against the client's targets, check-ins, chat, and a workout builder on the same profile.
Plus costs $49 a month for 50 active clients. Premium costs $69 for 100 clients and adds payments, community and AI generation. If you coach nutrition next to training, that means one login and one client app instead of a planner, a logging app and a spreadsheet.
Build meal plans from recipes, set macro targets and review what clients log, next to their training. Try Scraler free.
See the meal plannerWhat happens to the price when you get your eleventh client?
This is where the entry price misleads. On the pages we checked, the next plan up costs much more than the first. Practice Better goes from $35 for 10 clients to $69 for up to 300. Healthie goes from $19.99 for 10 active clients to $49.99 for 250. NutriAdmin goes from $34.99 for 10 new clients a month to $49.99 for 20. Nutrium is the exception, with unlimited clients at $39 a month, and That Clean Life never charges per client.
So compare the plan you will be on in a year. If you expect 25 clients, the plans that fit are $69 (Practice Better), $49.99 (Healthie), $39 (Nutrium) or $30 to $60 (That Clean Life). NutriAdmin caps new clients per month rather than total clients, so it depends on how fast you grow. Scraler Plus is $49 and covers 50 active clients. These are list prices on 7 October 2026 and will change, so check the page before you buy.
Also count what you do not pay for. A practice app with no workout builder means a second subscription if you coach training. A planner with no client app means PDFs by email. Neither is wrong, but both are costs the price table does not show.
How do you choose a nutrition app for your clients?
- 1.Decide what you must keep on record. Clinical notes, insurance claims and telehealth point to Practice Better, Healthie or Nutrium. General coaching does not need them.
- 2.Count your clients now and in a year. A 10 client cap is fine to start and a cost jump later. Compare the plan you will need, not the entry plan.
- 3.Check the client side. Ask what your client sees: an app, a portal or a PDF link. Clients who log daily need a real app.
- 4.Test one real plan. Build one client's week from scratch in a free trial. Notice how long it takes and whether the macros add up.
- 5.Check what is missing. A dash in the matrix is a question to ask before you pay.
Whichever app you pick, you still need good targets. Our free macro calculator, protein calculator and TDEE calculator give you a starting point. For the plan itself, start from the meal plan template or read how to write a personalized nutrition plan. If you are pricing your service, see nutrition coach pricing.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best app for a nutritionist?
- It depends on the work. Practice Better and Healthie suit clinical practice with billing, Nutrium and NutriAdmin suit dietitians who plan meals and take payments, and That Clean Life is a fast meal plan builder. Scraler suits coaches who also train clients.
- What is the best nutrition coaching app for clients to log food?
- MyFitnessPal and Cronometer are two of the best known. MyFitnessPal Premium costs $19.99 a month and Cronometer Gold $10.99 a month, and both have a free tier. Both let the client set custom macro targets.
- Is there a free app for nutritionists?
- Practice Better lists a free Sprout plan for students and new practitioners. MyFitnessPal and Cronometer have free tiers for client logging. Most other apps offer a 14 day trial, and That Clean Life has no free trial.
- Do I need dietitian software if I am a nutrition coach?
- Usually not. Charting, telehealth and insurance billing are built for licensed practitioners. A coach who builds meal plans, reviews food logs and takes payments can use a lighter tool. Check your local rules on what you may advise.
- Which nutrition software lets clients pay online?
- Practice Better, Healthie, Nutrium and NutriAdmin list online payments. NutriAdmin uses Stripe with fees. In Scraler, payments are on the Premium plan.
