Why do coaches look for a PT Distinction alternative?
PT Distinction has been built for personal trainers since 2010, and its workout builder is genuinely strong: circuits, supersets, giant sets and the 6-12-25 format are built into every plan, alongside an AI Meal Planner and a MyFitnessPal link its own features page calls the only complete integration of MyFitnessPal in the industry. The reasons to look elsewhere tend to sit in how the price and the branded app are structured, not in the core product.
- Every plan charges per extra client, with no ceiling. The rate falls from $6.00 on Basic to $1.60 on Master, but it keeps adding cost as the roster grows on every tier, including Master.
- The branded app answer depends on which page you read. The pricing page gates it to Pro and Master; the features page says every feature is included in every plan. Until the two agree, it is worth confirming with PT Distinction before you buy.
- Stripe is not native. PayPal works directly; Stripe connects through Zapier, so a coach who wants Stripe has another tool to set up and manage.
None of that makes PT Distinction a bad choice, especially for a coach under 25 clients who wants the format library and does not mind checking two pages for the branded app answer. It means the right alternative depends on which of those three points actually costs you money or certainty.
Trainerize: a single number per roster size, not a formula
- Cheapest plan
- Free (Basic, 1 client)
- Clients included
- 1
- Payments
- $10/mo add-on (Grow & Pro)
- Branded app
- $169 one-time (shared listing)
Trainerize publishes one price per client-seat tier, no base-plus-overage arithmetic required: $25/month at 5 clients, $79/month at 30, $225/month at 100. Stripe payments cost an extra $10/month on Grow and Pro, on top of whichever seat tier applies.
A branded app on Pro is a $169 one-time fee, though on iOS it sits on the shared Trainerize Apple listing rather than a listing of its own; your own listings on both stores need Studio Plus, from $275/month, and your own Apple Developer account. PT Distinction's pricing page lists a branded app on Pro with no add-on fee, so on that point it is the cheaper of the two. Full tiers are in the Trainerize pricing breakdown, and the Trainerize alternatives guide covers the wider field.
- Pro pricing still climbs by client seat, so a full roster costs well past the $25 entry price
- Stripe payments cost $10/month on top of the plan on Grow and Pro
- The Pro branded app sits on Trainerize's own shared Apple listing
- One published number per seat tier, no per-client formula to run yourself
- A native Stripe integration, unlike PT Distinction's Zapier-only route
- A free Basic plan and a 30 day trial with no card required
TrueCoach: a branded app included, with no page-to-page conflict
- Cheapest plan
- $29.98/mo (Starter)
- Clients included
- 5
- Payments
- 5% flat (invoice total)
- Branded app
- Included from Standard
TrueCoach is built for strength, bodybuilding, CrossFit and physical therapy coaching, with Standard and Pro raising the cap to 20 and then 50 active clients; above 50, TrueCoach quotes special pricing through support. Its 14 day trial is shorter than PT Distinction's free first month, and TrueCoach states that no card is needed. See TrueCoach pricing for the annual figures.
TrueCoach Payments takes a flat 5 percent of the invoice total including tax, and only works for coaches in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. PT Distinction states no markup fee of its own, but its Stripe route runs through Zapier instead. See TrueCoach vs Trainerize for a direct comparison, or the wider TrueCoach alternatives list.
- Payments take a flat 5 percent of the invoice total, including tax
- TrueCoach Payments only works in the US, UK, Canada and Australia
- No published price above 50 clients; you ask support for a quote
- Branded app included from Standard, with no pricing-versus-features conflict to untangle
- A drag-and-drop builder with a 3,500+ exercise video library
- Custom habits, progress pictures and body metrics built in
Everfit: a free tier under PT Distinction's cheapest paid plan
- Cheapest plan
- Free (Starter)
- Clients included
- 5
- Payments
- From $9/mo add-on
- Branded app
- White label on Enterprise (500+ clients)
Everfit's Starter plan is free for up to 5 clients, below PT Distinction's cheapest paid Basic tier at $19.90/month for 3. Pro then climbs by client step, from $19/month for 5 clients to $290/month for 300; the Everfit pricing breakdown lists every step.
Nutrition works the other way round: PT Distinction's AI Meal Planner is included on every plan, while Everfit's full meal-plan module costs from $39/month extra, and Payments and Packages from $9/month extra on top of that. For direct comparisons, see Everfit vs Trainerize and Everfit vs TrueCoach, or the wider Everfit alternatives list.
- A full meal-plan module costs from $39/month extra, unlike PT Distinction's included AI Meal Planner
- Payments and packages cost from $9/month extra
- A true white-label app needs an Enterprise quote with a 500-client minimum
- Free forever for up to 5 clients, cheaper than PT Distinction's cheapest paid tier
- 30 day trial on paid plans, no card required
- A published price per client step, instead of a formula to run yourself
Kahunas: unlimited clients removes the overage entirely
- Cheapest plan
- $35/mo (Essentials)
- Clients included
- 25
- Payments
- Stripe/PayPal, no commission
- Branded app
- Ultimate only ($99/mo)
Kahunas runs three tiers: Essentials at $35/month for 25 clients, Growth at $69/month for 50, then Ultimate removes the client cap altogether for one flat $99/month, rather than lowering the per-client rate the way PT Distinction's Master tier does. The Kahunas pricing breakdown covers the annual plans.
Every tier includes custom check-in forms, habit tracking and messaging with voice notes, and Stripe or PayPal payments carry no platform commission. Its help centre says it has no MyFitnessPal integration, which PT Distinction does offer. See Kahunas vs Everfit for a direct comparison, or the Kahunas alternatives guide for the wider field.
- The branded app is Ultimate-only and still needs your own developer accounts
- No MyFitnessPal integration, per its own help centre
- The trial is 14 days, half of PT Distinction's month
- Ultimate removes the per-client charge completely for a flat $99/month, unlimited clients
- Your own iOS and Android listings on Ultimate, with no pricing-versus-features conflict
- Stripe and PayPal with no platform commission
FitBudd: the same overage model, a lower entry price
- Cheapest plan
- $15/mo (Starter)
- Clients included
- 2 (+$4/extra)
- Payments
- Stripe, PayPal, no extra fees stated
- Branded app
- Super Pro $149/mo + $75 setup
FitBudd charges a base price plus a per-extra-client rate too, the closest model here to PT Distinction's own: Starter is $15/month for 2 clients plus $4 for each extra, and Pro is $79/month for 20 clients plus $2 for each extra, working out at $99/month for a 30-client roster. Full details are in the FitBudd pricing breakdown.
A fully white-labelled app needs Super Pro at $149/month plus a $75 one-time setup fee, a higher combined cost than PT Distinction's branded Pro tier. Nutrition includes a 1 million+ food library with barcode scanning, and the homepage lists Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and Apple Pay with no extra processing fees on paid plans. The FitBudd alternatives guide covers the wider field.
- A white-labelled app needs Super Pro plus a $75 setup fee, pricier than PT Distinction's branded Pro tier
- Every plan still charges per extra client, the same trade-off as PT Distinction
- Several features are sold as separate add-ons
- The lowest entry price in this comparison, at $15/month
- A 1 million+ food library with barcode scanning
- 30 day trial with no card required, against PT Distinction's unstated card requirement
Scraler: one flat price, no per-client overage
- Cheapest plan
- $49/mo (Plus)
- Clients included
- 50 active
- Payments
- Stripe, from Premium ($69/mo)
- Branded app
- Ultimate only, from $109/mo
Scraler is coaching software with a dashboard for the coach and an app for the client, bundling workout planning, meal plans, nutrition tracking, check-ins, habit tracking, chat and scheduling into one flat price with no per-extra-client rate. Archived clients do not count toward the cap either.
Premium, at $69/month, raises the client cap to 100 and adds Stripe payments, AI generation and a client community. Ultimate, from $109/month, adds a white-label app: iOS goes under the trainer's own Apple Developer account ($99/year to Apple), while Android is published under Scraler's Google Play account at no cost to the trainer. Plans are on the pricing page.
- The white-label app is Ultimate-only, a higher bar than TrueCoach's included one
- The 14 day trial needs a card on file (not charged until it ends) and is shorter than PT Distinction's free first month
- Newer and smaller than PT Distinction, which has been built for trainers since 2010
- One flat price per tier, with no per-client formula to calculate at all
- Stripe payments included in the Premium price, with no Zapier step
- Archived clients never count against the plan cap
How do you migrate off PT Distinction?
Export what you can from PT Distinction first: client contacts, active programmes and nutrition plans. Then rebuild your highest-value templates and formats, especially any circuit or superset structures, and check on a trial that the new platform can represent them before you move clients across.
Scraler's switch page is a free service that rebuilds clients, workouts and meal plans from an export. For the wider field, see the online coaching platforms guide and the best apps for personal trainers roundup. If you are still deciding, the PT Distinction pricing breakdown and the PT Distinction vs Trainerize comparison cover the same ground from a different angle.
Workouts, nutrition, check-ins, messaging and progress in one client app, at one flat price per tier with no per-extra-client rate to calculate. Fourteen days free, card on file, nothing charged unless you stay past the trial.

- What is the best alternative to PT Distinction?
- It depends on which part of PT Distinction's pricing bothers you. Kahunas and Scraler both remove the per-client overage entirely, TrueCoach includes a branded app with no pricing-versus-features conflict, and Trainerize publishes one number per seat tier instead of a formula.
- Is there a free alternative to PT Distinction?
- Everfit keeps a forever-free Starter plan for up to 5 clients, cheaper than PT Distinction's own $19.90/month Basic tier. Beyond that cap, every alternative here is paid.
- Which alternatives avoid PT Distinction's per-client overage fee?
- Kahunas Ultimate and Scraler both charge one flat price with no per-extra-client rate. FitBudd still charges per extra client, the closest model to PT Distinction's own, just at a lower entry price.
- Do these alternatives include a branded app without a page-to-page conflict?
- TrueCoach includes one from Standard at no extra fee, and its pricing and features pages agree. Kahunas and Scraler both gate theirs to a top tier; PT Distinction's own pricing page and features page disagree over which plans include one at all.
- Which PT Distinction alternatives connect Stripe without Zapier?
- Trainerize, TrueCoach, Kahunas and FitBudd all list Stripe directly. Trainerize charges $10/month for it on Grow and Pro, TrueCoach takes a flat 5 percent per transaction, and Kahunas and FitBudd state no platform commission. Scraler includes Stripe from Premium.
- What happens to my clients and programmes if I leave PT Distinction?
- Export your client list, programmes and nutrition plans first, then rebuild them on the new platform. Scraler's switch page is a free service where the team rebuilds clients, workouts and meal plans from your exports.
