What Gymdesk publishes, and where it stops
Gymdesk's four named plans are genuinely published: Micro Gym $75/month up to 50 active members, Small Gym $100 for 51 to 100, Medium Gym $150 for 101 to 200, and Large Gym $200 for 201 to 400. Every plan carries the same feature set, so the price only moves with member count, and there is no setup or cancellation fee. Past 400 members, Enterprise is a contact sales quote with no figure on the page.
Three things sit outside that headline price. Door access is a $100/month add-on for up to three doors, then $29/month per extra door, with hardware quoted separately. A branded member app is $100/month, with the first month free. Payment processing carries no published rate at all, unlike Wodify or PushPress below. Our gym software cost calculator lines up what all eight in this category publish at your own member count.
Mindbody
- Starter
- $79/month per location, published on a separate explainer, not the pricing page
- Accelerate / Ultimate
- Not published, sales quote only
- App bookings
- 20% referral commission, capped at $30, on bookings through the Mindbody consumer app
- Best for
- Large, multi-location gyms and franchises
Mindbody's reach is the real draw: it is the biggest name in the category, and its own consumer app can bring in bookings a smaller platform never would. That comes with a trade-off Gymdesk does not have, a 20 percent commission on those app bookings, capped at $30, plus two of its three tiers carrying no published price. A gym choosing Mindbody over Gymdesk is usually choosing brand reach over a plain published number. See Mindbody alternatives for more.
Glofox
- Price
- Not published at any size; pricing page is a three-step form
- Plans
- Essential, Boost and Elite, none with a price attached
- Add-ons
- Custom branded app listed, price not published
- Best for
- Larger gyms and franchises wanting a branded app
Glofox publishes even less than Gymdesk's Enterprise tier: nothing, at any size, on any of its three named plans. The page asks for business type, number of locations and contact details before naming a figure. Against Gymdesk's plain ladder, Glofox only makes sense for a gym that would rather have a sales conversation shaped around its own size than compare a published table itself. More at Glofox alternatives.
Zen Planner
- Core plans
- Studio $99, Essentials $198, Ultimate $348 per month, all "starting at"
- Ladder
- Eight published active-member bands, $99 up to 45 members to $289 at 251 and above
- Add-ons
- Branded app $39/month, card readers $39/month
- Best for
- Martial arts schools and fitness studios
Zen Planner publishes a longer ladder than Gymdesk does, eight member bands against Gymdesk's four, though the full grid sits on a separate active member tiers page rather than the main pricing page. Belt and skill progression tracking is built in, a genuine strength for combat sports gyms that Gymdesk does not compete on. A branded app is cheaper here too, $39/month against Gymdesk's $100. See Zen Planner alternatives for more.
TeamUp
- Price
- $119/month up to 100 active customers, $189 at 101 to 200, up to $379 at 501 and above
- Access control and POS
- Listed on the plan, not sold as an add-on
- Branded app add-on
- $99/month on top of the core plan
- Best for
- Studios running classes and on-demand content
TeamUp is the clearest case for leaving Gymdesk on features rather than price. Point of sale and access control sit on TeamUp's single plan, where Gymdesk sells door access separately at $100/month for up to three doors. TeamUp prices one plan on a slider with six active-customer brackets, $119 to $379 a month, so unlike Gymdesk it still names a figure past 400. More at TeamUp alternatives.
Wodify
- Essentials
- $99/month per location, offer price against a struck-through $199
- Accelerate / Ultimate
- Not published, "Get Started" button only
- Processing
- Card 2.6% + $0.25, a rate Gymdesk does not publish at all
- Best for
- CrossFit affiliates and functional fitness boxes
Wodify's $99/month Essentials offer runs against a "book a demo by 31 October" deadline and a regular $199 price, so confirm which figure is live before comparing it to Gymdesk's $75 Micro Gym tier. It is priced per location rather than per member, publishes a card rate of 2.6 percent plus 25 cents, and is built around WOD-based class programming for CrossFit and functional fitness boxes rather than general studios. See Wodify alternatives for more.
PushPress
- Free / Pro / Max
- $0, $159, $229 per month
- Limits
- Unlimited members on every tier, including Free
- Processing (Free to Max)
- 4.99% + $0.30 card down to 2.75% + $0.30 card
- Best for
- Small gyms wanting to start free
PushPress is the only vendor here with a genuinely free tier, $0/month with no member cap, something Gymdesk's cheapest Micro Gym plan at $75 does not offer. That free tier carries the highest card processing rate of the three PushPress tiers, 4.99 percent plus $0.30. Pro and Max publish lower rates as the plan price rises, a trade Gymdesk's buyers do not get to make since it names no rate at any tier.
Scraler
- Plus
- $49/month, 50 clients, builders and a branded subdomain
- Premium
- $69/month, 100 clients, adds AI generation, community, landing page builder
- Ultimate
- From $109/month, 100 to 500 clients, adds white-label app, custom domain, studio management
- Payments
- Stripe payments, packages and earnings from Premium
Scraler is not a gym management system. It has no door access, no point of sale and no class-pack billing, so it cannot replace Gymdesk at a facility where members badge in. It does run classes and events with a booking capacity, Stripe payments from Premium, and on Ultimate a white-label app plus studio, staff and multi-location management. That fits a coaching-led studio running programming and client relationships, not a facility managing who walks through its door. For that job, see the gym management software guide instead.
Where Gymdesk beats Scraler
- Door access, membership cards or kiosk check-in, none of which Scraler has
- Pricing by gym members up to 400, with every plan carrying the same feature set
- A front-desk built around walk-in gym membership rather than one-to-one coaching
- AI-assisted workout and nutrition programming on Premium and above
- Meal plans, recipes, check-ins and habit tracking built into the same platform as scheduling
- A white-label iOS and Android app on Ultimate, not a shared listing
A gym with doors to badge through and a counter to staff is better served by Gymdesk, or by TeamUp if access control and POS need to sit on the plan itself rather than an add-on. A coaching business selling programming, nutrition and one-to-one relationships, with no facility to manage, fits Scraler instead.
Plus is $49/month for 50 clients, Premium is $69/month for 100. Every plan has a 14 day trial; a card is required, and nothing is charged until the trial ends.
View pricingFrequently asked questions
- Why would a gym leave Gymdesk?
- Mostly for what Gymdesk does not do rather than its price: no published processing rate, door access sold as a $100/month add-on rather than included, and an unpublished Enterprise quote past 400 active members.
- Which Gymdesk alternative has a free plan?
- PushPress has a Free tier at $0/month with unlimited members, before its Pro tier at $159/month and Max at $229/month. Gymdesk has no free tier at any size.
- Which alternative includes access control and POS without an add-on?
- TeamUp lists both point of sale and access control on its single plan, from $119/month up to 100 active customers. Gymdesk sells door access separately at $100/month for up to three doors.
- What happens above Gymdesk's 400 member ceiling?
- Gymdesk moves to an unpublished Enterprise quote. TeamUp publishes $379/month for 501 and more active customers, Zen Planner Studio is $289 from 251 members, and PushPress has unlimited members on every plan. Mindbody and Glofox do not publish a figure at that size.
- Does Gymdesk publish a card processing rate?
- No, its pricing page names no percentage or per-transaction rate. Wodify (2.6% + $0.25) and PushPress (2.75% to 4.99% + $0.30 by tier) both publish theirs.
- Is Scraler a gym management system?
- No. It has no door access and no point of sale. It is coaching software with classes and bookings, Stripe payments from Premium, and studio, team and multi-location management plus a white-label app on Ultimate, which suits coaching-led studios rather than gyms.
- What does Scraler cost compared with these alternatives?
- Plus is $49/month for 50 clients and Premium is $69/month for 100, both published prices rather than a "contact sales" button, with Ultimate from $109/month at 100 clients up to $499 at 500.
